Wantable Box Review: December 2012

Last week I received an email stating that “PR Dept” sent me a Wantable gift box. At first I wasn’t sure if I was the intended recipient because I know that I have already received my prize from MakeupTalk contest.

I clicked the link to redeem my gift and found a lovely message from Jaclyn. She said that they enjoyed my previous box review and would like to send me another box for free. That was so nice of them, and I definitely didn’t expect anything like that! I had to choose between a jewelry box and a makeup box, and although the jewelry option seemed very appealing, vintage-style items just wouldn’t go well with what I normally wear, so I opted-in for the cosmetics again.

I wasn’t sure if I made the right choice because there was a high chance I would receive the same items I got in the previous box, but luckily I only got one repeat and it went straight into the cosmetic bag that I carry around in my purse. They also included three bonus perfume samples: two from Spadaro and one from Kai, which I tried and liked in my previous box. I listed this as a December box since they’re now monthly and I’m not sure if the products will change in January.

Mia BelleZZa Mineral Pressed Blush in Safari
I have received this blush in my previous box in the shade “Captive” which is a peachy-rosy shade with small golden flecks, similar to Nars “Orgasm”. This time I got a creamy mocha shade which is perfect for face contouring. I already used it and like the results way more than what I normally do – I used to just contour my face with a darker shade of pressed powder.

MiA BelleZZa Mineral Shadow Duo in Moca
This is a repeat product from the previous box. Since one of them is on my makeup table, the other one is going to straight into the cosmetic bag I carry around with me in my purse.

Beauty For Real Light Up Nail Polish in #1 Red
That is the coolest nail polish ever! I often have to paint my nails while we’re watching a movie so the room is usually dark. At least with this bottle I don’t have to bother everyone by turning on the night light to see my nails. The true apple red color looks amazing and I will update this post with some swatches asap since I just painted my nails with Color Club polish from a previous Wantable box and would like to at least wear it for a few days.
Update: here’s the swatch!
Verhoeven Cosmetics Cheek Candy Creme Blush in Sunset
This is yet another fabulous blush I received from Wantable, and again I’m very impressed with the quality and the application. Sunset is a universally flattering shade that would look absolutely gorgeous on most complexions. I only needed a small dab on my fingers to create healthy rosy cheeks. It looked fantastic and I discovered that this shade almost exactly matches the natural color of my blushing skin. The formula was velvety smooth and even the smell was pleasant which is usually a good sign.
Beauty For Real The Perfect Pencil in Nude
This is supposedly the only lip pencil I will ever need, and judging from some before and after pictures on the brand’s website that might be the case. I don’t have particularly thin lips but there are some imperfections I would like to correct and I often use nude lip pencils for that. As long as it doesn’t feel like a #2 and the color is pretty I’ll use it!
Perfume samples: Spadaro “Doux Amour”, “Sole Nero”, and Kai Perfume Oil
I already received Kai perfume oil as an extra in my previous box, and really liked it. It’s very light and floral and works well with my skin’s chemistry.
“Doux Amour” and “Sole Nero” both contain very strong sandalwood notes, and although I like the scent on its own I would not wear them because I associate it with masculinity. I’m planning on using them as a room spray because I really like that woody fragrance, it reminds me of my two-month long vacation in Thailand.
