Love With Food Review: December 2012

The theme for this month’s box is predictable but very fitting, it’s called “Happy Holidays!”. This was my favorite box of the three because it was mostly filled with chocolate, candy and other sweet snacks.

Honey Cinnamon Almonds from Nunes Farms
These almonds reminded me of Sahale brand almond snacks, they’re also well-spiced without overpowering almonds’ natural taste. I enjoyed my little sample bag and maybe will buy more to put in my purses to replace the protein bars.

Holiday Salt Water Taffy by Taffy Town
I liked all of the flavors that I got but my favorite is the one that tasted like cranberry. I’m not sure if it really was cranberry because it didn’t say so on the package, but it had the Santa face drawn on it. I guess they’re not Santa flavored after all 🙂

Belgian Milk Chocolate-Dipped Nutter Butter Cookies
It’s supposed to be some kind of blast from the past product, but I didn’t have those in my childhood so it was a brand new discovery for me. I enjoyed the nuttiness and the sprinkled almonds, I think the flavors in this cookie are very well-balanced.

Candy Cane Milk Chocolate Truffles
Mmmm those truffles were truly delicious! I’m a fan of anything and everything peppermint bark, so these yummy chocolaty-minty balls satisfied my pre-Christmas hunger… for now! 🙂

Mocha Mint Cappuccino by Hills Brothers Cappuccino
I’ve actually received a sample of this exact cappuccino mix before when Hills Bros had a free sample offer on their Facebook page, and it left me unimpressed. I tried it again today and I guess nothing’s changed since then, it’s still the same bland watery taste that has nothing to do with real cappuccino.

Gingerbread Boy Cookies by Nikki’s Cookies
Those are some fancy gingerbread cookies! Seriously who would pay $2 per cookie? Although they’re definitely not worth buying (at least not for me) I did like them quite a bit. My cookie was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with very gingery taste and the white chocolate was a very nice touch.

Sea Salt Caramel Popcorn by 479 Degrees Popcorn
What a nice treat this was for just 100 calories! I’m currently on a diet to lose those pesky last 10 lbs and I’m counting literally everything I eat. I loved the sweet and salty taste of this pop corn, it was way better than I expected.

Mad Mini Chocolate Gift Box by Madecasse Chocolate
Well, while the dark chocolate was ok the milk one was pretty disappointing. It clearly lacked the creaminess and the taste, I thought it actually tasted like poor quality bulk chocolate for cooking 🙁
